Production notes
This piece was created spontaneously using a digital
camera and woven quickly into a Flash project within several days. It plays with language and uses striking imagery to convey the
possible background behind what appears to be a meaningless act of
anger/violence.
Joyride was inspired through a three year research project that authors Judi
Alston and Andy Campbell were doing bringing arts opportunities to
marginalised young people in deprived communities. After the death of
a young man participating on the project due to a heroin overdose,
they were compelled to produce something that reflected the
desperation and self destructive tendencies felt by young people
excluded from mainstream society.
